Debt recovery: negotiation-led information
Personal debt recovery
Owed money? We can help you pursue repayment. Whether you are owed money by another individual, a sole trader or a limited company, Private Resolve may support you in pursuing repayment of an eligible outstanding sum through suitable pre-legal negotiation. No recovery is guaranteed.
Make an enquiryWho this service may help
Personal Debt Recovery is for private individuals and consumers who say that money is owed to them by another person or a business. We check the basis of the sum, the available evidence, prior communication and whether the matter is suitable for a voluntary negotiation process. The service does not automatically treat every consumer complaint as an enforceable debt.
- Unpaid personal loans
- Money owed by friends or acquaintances
- Outstanding refunds that a business has agreed are due
- Agreed repayments owed by tradespeople
- Deposits that should have been returned
- Other sums that appear legally recoverable and are within the agreed scope
Claims may involve an individual, sole trader or limited company. Each matter is reviewed on its facts; this list does not establish that a particular sum is legally due.
When the amount or responsibility is disputed
If the business or other party denies liability, challenges the amount, or disputes the terms, the issue may be more appropriate for Personal Dispute Resolution. That service focuses on an independent conversation about the disagreement. Private Resolve does not decide who is legally right, represent one party, or guarantee an agreement.
One independent process
The person making the enquiry does not become a represented client. Where suitable, Private Resolve invites both parties to take part in one independent, voluntary discussion. Private Resolve does not act for either side, and the process only proceeds if both are willing and the scope is agreed in advance.
What the first review considers
We look at the nature and basis of the sum, the parties, available evidence, whether any part is disputed, prior contact, urgency and the role requested. Any offer of service must be confirmed in writing before another party is contacted.
- Provide a simple timeline and the amount you believe is owed
- Share what was agreed and what the other party says, including any disagreement about liability, amount or repayment terms
- Get legal advice if a court claim or deadline is already active
Scope and limits
These pages describe pre-legal negotiation only. They do not offer a general debt collection, debt tracing, debt administration or enforcement service. Whether an activity requires authorisation depends on the facts and role. Private Resolve does not claim authorisation or an exemption here; work outside a confirmed permitted scope will not be undertaken. No recovery is guaranteed.
Possible next steps
If suitable, the next step may be an agreed negotiation plan, a voluntary repayment proposal or a referral to independent legal advice. If court action or a deadline is already active, speak to a solicitor promptly.
